As of right now, research shows that the coronavirus is spread via droplets and particles containing the virus. They become released into the air when an infected person may breathe, talk, laugh, cough or sneeze. While larger droplets containing the virus may fall to the ground swiftly, smaller infectious particles are known to be able to linger in the air and are likely to accumulate in indoor spaces-especially in crowded spaces with poor ventilation. Masks are important because they stop much of the droplets and particles from becoming airborne. While they do not reduce the risk completely, they are crucial to decrease the likelihood of spreading the virus. Additional measures such as good hand hygiene and physical distancing also contribute to this.
